This
is the live view from Staddon Heights at the mouth of Plymouth
Sound.
The camera is extensively used by the BBC as a backdrop for
weather reports and for regional TV news bulletins.
This image is updated every five minutes Monday to Friday,
during daylight hours, and throughout the afternoon at weekends.
The
camera is controlled remotely from Broadcasting House in Plymouth.
At dawn it is pointed east to catch the sunrise, in the evening
it is moved to catch the sunset.
In between it may be pointing at traffic over the Laira bridge,
people enjoying the sun on Plymouth Hoe, or ship movements
in Plymouth Sound, especially on Thursdays when Royal Navy
ships depart on exercise.
